Luther Milton "Ark" Carter, 73, of Rt. 2, Junction City, died Tuesday morning at Lake D'Arbonne, La. Born March 15, 1898, in Louann, he was the son of Edward and Martha Jeffus Carter. He was a retired oilfield worker. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in El Dorado. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eula Brasher Carter; four daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Walthall, Midland, Tex., Mrs. Dorothy Coplin, Duncanville, Tex., Mrs. Evalee Moody and Mrs. Bennie Hood, both of Florida; one brother, John Henry Carter, Stephens; one half-brother, Grady Smith, Bearden; one sister, Mrs. John Crowell, Pine Bluff; one half-sister, Mrs. Gladys Burns, Camden; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Grove Methodist church. Officiating were the Rev. Earl C. Mathis, assisted by the Rev. Erby Funderburg. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Pallbearers were H. T. Murray, Eddie Dumas, Cecil Carter, Jerry Dumas, Larry Long, J. L. Templeton, and Darce Cook.
