Carrie M (VanDuyne) Hobson wife of Benjamin F Hobson. Carrie was born in Kansas and died in Iuka, Izard County, Arkansas.

The Calico Rock Progress, Calico Rock, Arkansas, July 18, 1919:

Death Near Iuka

Mrs. Carrie M. Hobson a highly respected lady of two miles south of Iuka died at her home last Wed. morning, July 16, at the age of thirty years and four months. Mrs. Hobson had been in very poor health for two years. She was born in Kansas and in 1904 was married to her husband who survives her.

For several years they lived in Oklahoma, moving from Cushing, OK to this vicinity last Mar. She was a consecrated woman, having been a faithful member of the M. E. Church for a number of years.

Besides the faithful husband, deceased is survived by three small children – three boys and two girls.

Burial took place at the Wayland Arbor Cemetery Thursday, service by Rev. F. E. Hall.

Note: The obituary states that she was survived by three small children -- three boys and two girls. Obviously that should have been five small children. In the 1920 census of Union Township, Izard County, Arkansas, Benjamin Hobson is recorded with the following five children: Edward W. Hobson, Emma R. Hobson, John C. Hobson, Elizebeth C. Hobson, & Ben W. Hobson ranging in age from 14 to 3-1/2.
