Floy Mae Spear Hill, 86, of Greenbrier, passed away Monday, May 2, 2011. Born in Greenbrier, Arkansas on July 1, 1924, she was a daughter to the late Joseph Floyd and Mary Estella Wilson Spear. Floy Mae retired from Conway Human Development Center after 25 years of loyal service. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in the Shady Grove Community. The love of her life was first her God, husband, children and grandchildren. She was the matriarch and peacemaker of the family, always wanted everyone to be happy and get along with each other. A stranger she never met and somehow they would become friends. If you left her house hungry it would be your own fault because there was always plenty of food, because she was an avid gardener, cook and loved to quilt and crochet.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Sherman Samuel Hill and brothers Bill Spear of Sikeston, MO and Eldon Spear of Traskwood, AR.
Those left to mourn her passing are her children: Sam Hill and wife Mona of Romance, Sandra Barnett and husband J.R. of Conway, Brenda Whitfield and husband Danny of Beebe, Lynn Hill and wife Nelda of Greenbrier; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a brother, Bobby Gene Spear of Greenbrier and multiple nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Greenbrier, with Bro. Cecil Burgess officiating. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery with her grandsons, Robbie Hill, Matthew Whitfield, Casey Whitfield, Shawn Hill, Dakota Mauldin, Lee Petty, Nathan Cardin and Dylan Ruffner, serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Lynn and Sam Hill, J.R. Barnett and Danny Whitfield. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. ,at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier.
