Died February 18, 1937, Pineville, Izard County, Arkansas.
Daughter of Wiley W. & Sarah Elizabeth Henderson Whitfield.
Married Samuel A. Staggs, about 1882.
Calico Rock Progress, Calico Rock, Arkansas, February 26, 1937:
Mrs. Mary R. Staggs aged 76, died at her home east of Pineville, Thursday, Feb 18th.
She was born and reared in this county. At the age of 21 she was married to Samuel A. Staggs.
She was converted early in life and united with the Methodist Church at Corinth, but in later years united with the Baptist Church. She lived a faithful Christian until called by death.
She was the mother of six children, four of whom survive, as follows: Mrs. John Fountain of Pineville, Ark., Wiley Staggs of Wild Cherry, Ark., Mrs. Henry Ball of Calico Rock and Jordan Staggs of Chase, Kansas. Seventeen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.
Interment was at Wise's Chapel Cemetery, Friday. Funeral services were conducted by Elder D. A. Hively.
