Funeral of W. A. Staggs Held Here Saturday

William A. Staggs, age 70, well known citizen of this vicinity, died at his home, five miles northwest of here. Thursday night January 1. His death followed an illness of several weeks.

Mr Staggs was born in this county and the greater part of his life was spent in the vicinity of Calico Rock, where he was known to a large circle of friends. He was engaged at farming until ill health forced his retirement several months ago. In 1900 he was married to Miss Melita Berry of this place. Four children were born to this union, one son Johnnie preceded his father in death by two years. Mr. Staggs was a devout Christian, having united with the Church of Christ early in life.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, S. B. Staggs of San Antonio, Texas, W. F. Staggs of Norfork, and Rufus Staggs of Calico Rock.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ at this place, Saturday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev W. T. Wilson in charge. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Roller Funeral Service, burial being in Rose Lawn Cemetery at this place.
