Mrs. Emma Richardson Dies After Brief Illness
Mrs. Ruth Emma Clark Richardson, a resident of this place for the past several months, died at the hospital at Gassville, Tuesday, following a brief illness. She suffered a stroke about ten days ago and was immediately removed to the hospital. She was 72 years of age.
Mrs. Richardson had been a resident of this county practically all her life. She was untied in marriage to James W. Richardson. To this union eleven children were born, three of which and her husband preceded her in death. She was a resident of the Pineville and Cross Roads communities for several years before moving to Calico Rock.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Josie Morgan and Mrs. Jewel Adams of Bethany, Okla., and Mrs. Ann Brumley of Calico Rock; five sons, William Richardson of Calico Rock, Kerry Richardson of Elizabeth, Ark, Obie, Otho and Clover Richardson of Hiawatha, Utah; two brothers, M. E. Clark, Cash, Ark., and W. T. Clark, Tupelo, Ark.; three sisters, Mrs. Francis Dillard, Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Rose Wayland, Calico Rock and Mrs. May Hively, Neosho, Mo.; 36 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Richardson was converted early in life and united with the Methodist Church, but later united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Pineville.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. J. E. Williamson and Rev. Luther K. Wilson were held at Cross Roads Thursday afternoon. Burial was in the Cross Roads Cemetery with the Hall Funeral Service in charge.
