Middleton C. Barker, 93, of Rt. 6 died Monday afternoon in a local hospital following a lengthy illness. Born March 17, 1878, in Holly Springs, Miss., he was the son of Thomas and Mandy Todd Barker. A retired farmer, he was a 70-year resident of this area and was a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, John M. Barker and Charlie E. Barker, both of El Dorado; a brother, Roland Barker, El Dorado; three sisters, Mrs. Fred McKinnon, El Dorado, Mrs. Leetrus Coleman, Magnolia, and Mrs. Era Stewart, Minden; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church with the Rev. Earl Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. (El Dorado Times - August 10, 1971)
