Little Rock--Oris Mildred Dockins Whitfield, 92, of Little Rock, went to be with her Lord Friday, May 21, 2004.

She was born Aug. 28, 1911, in Cross Roads, a daughter of James Thomas Dockins and Mary E. Lovelace Dockins. She grew up in the Izard County communities of Cross Roads and Wideman. In order to attend high school, she moved to Calico Rock and roomed with the home economics teacher. After graduating from Calico Rock High School, getting married and obtaining a teaching license, she taught lower grades at Pineville. After leaving teaching, she was a homemaker and caregiver for her mother, husband, sons, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and children of friends and neighbors. She was an active member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and Gold Star Bible class for more than 50 years. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by two sons and their families, Harold Whitfield, wife, Barbara, and their children, Alia, Anissa, Guy and his wife, Margaret, and their children, Kayla, Katie and Ryan; and second son, Paul Whitfield, wife, Rebecca, and their children, Michael and his wife, Kathryn, and Tracy Newberry, and her husband Patrick, and their children Nathan and Lillian.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years Asa Dale Whitfield; her parents; four brothers, Orville Dockins, Tom Dockins, J.T. Dockins and Delma Dockins; and sisters, Hattie Wayland and Marie Killian.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home Southwest.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Roller-Drummond Southwest Chapel with the Rev. Carroll Koon and the Rev. Jay Dockins officiating.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, a service will be at Wises Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Pineville with the Rev. Bob Slagley and the Rev. Jay Dockins officiating.

Interment will be at Wises Chapel Cemetery with Roller Funeral Home of Mountain Home assisting.

Memorials may be made to Missionary Baptist Seminary, 5224 Stagecoach Road, Little Rock, AR 72204.
