Died November 27, 2004, Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri.
Daughter of Thomas Jefferson Lovelace & Nora Drown Lovelace.

Opal E. Blakeslee, 93, died at 12:30 a.m., Saturday, November 27, 2004, at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin following a lengthy illness. Ms. Blakeslee was born Sept. 25, 1911, in Pineville, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Lovelace and Nora (Drown) Lovelace. In 1998 she moved to Joplin from Mountain Home.

She served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, and was in the First Division of Women's Marines. Following her service time, she worked for the Civil Service and FBI, retiring in 1976. She belonged to the retired Women's Marine Association and was a founder of the Arkansas Diamond Chapter. She was a member of the Wises Chapel, and had been active in her church.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Martin of Joplin; two granddaughters, Shelly Emmert and Paulette Martin, both of Neosho and a brother, Raymond Lovelace of Kearney, Mo.; one great-granddaughter, Emily Emmert of Neosho. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Price and Cerile Lovelace, and a sister, Lola Moser. Military graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Cross Roads Cemetery in Pineville.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home in Neosho.
