Levon Stumbaugh, age 90, of Clarksville, Arkansas, died Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Clarksville Health & Rehab.
He was a native of Clarksville and a graduate of Clarksville High School. He joined the National Guard in Clarksville shortly after graduating. His unit was mobilized and deployed to the Aleutian Islands for 26 months during World War II. He had many stories of his time spent in the Aleutians and always enjoyed exchanging these stories with his many friends from the Clarksville area who served with him. He remained in the National Guard after the war and retired as company commander of the local Guard unit after 22 years of service.
He was employed for 35 years as the office manager at Lewis & Clark Chevrolet and enjoyed another 12 years as an employee of Nite Lite until he finally retired at age 72. He served on the city council and was an active member of First Methodist Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by twin brother, Leon, of North Little Rock and son, Jerry, of Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen, of 65 years; two children, Alan Stumbaugh and wife, Donna, of Houston, Texas and Becky Clifton of Clarksville
