August 26, 1883 - November 10, 1968
Mrs. Myrtle J. Shankle, 85, of 523 N. Jackson St., died Sunday morning in a local hospital following a long illness. She was born Aug. 26, 1883, in Ouachita County, Ark., the daughter of A. G. and Rebecca Clay Jordan. She was a Methodist and a resident of El Dorado since 1924. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. O. W. Bodenhamer and Mrs. Velda Willett, both of El Dorado; one step son, Alton Shankle; one step daughter, Mrs. W. J. Mays of Allenville, S.C.; one brother, Coy Jordan of Sheridan, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs. V. C. Gatlin of El Dorado and Mrs. Hugh Key of Smackover; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Rumph Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Don Harbuck officiating. Burial will follow at the Holly Springs Cemetery near Princeton under the direction of Rumph Morturay. Pallbearers will be C. B. Cumpler, W. C. Love, Walter Hudson, Owen Key, Proctor Taylor and Phil Owen. (El Dorado Times - November 11, 1968)
