Oliver Richard Lawson, 96, of Houston, Arkansas, died Sunday, June 27, 2010. He was born February 20, 1914 in Houston, Arkansas, a son of Oscar Lawson and Onie May Lawson. He was the widower of Reba Steele Lawson after 46 yrs .of marriage, and a farmer. Mr. Lawson was a member of Houston Assembly of God where he was Deacon and Trustee Board member 50 yrs., third member of Election Commission 8 yrs., ASC Committee 9 yrs., Farm Bureau Board 5 years, Soil Conservation 60 yrs, Equalization Board 10 yrs, Bigelow School Board 20 yrs. Houston Town Council 40 yrs., and Houston Volunteer Fire Department.
Survived by his children and spouses, Jeniece Williams (Johnnie) of Morrilton, Richard Lawson and (Iva) of Little Rock, Jerry Lawson (Anne) of Houston, Betty Woolf (Burk) of Roland, Bill Lawson (Sharon) of Perryville and Bob Lawson (Jeana) of Houston; sister, Earlene Webb (Rubin) of Bryant; fourteen grandchildren, thirty eight great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and a grandson, Michael Woolf.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, at Houston Assembly of God with Bro. John Chapman and Bro. Michael McDaniel and Bro. Buddy Wroten officiating. Burial will be at May Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, at the funeral home.
