Essie E. Garner, 96, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, died Tuesday, October 6, 2009. She was born June 14, 1913, in Amity, Arkansas, to the late John Henry and Rosie Lee (Glover) Bean. She was a homemaker and was of the non-denominational faith.
Essie is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Garner; five brothers and three sisters; four sons Leon Garner, Terrell Garner, Jerrell Garner, and Willie J. Garner; one daughter Kathryn Edwards; and one granddaughter Janet Edwards. She is survived by her son Jodie Garner and wife Johnnie of Malvern, Arkansas; daughter-in-laws Pat Garner of Bonnerdale, Arkansas, and Sharon Garner of Wilmer, Texas; eighteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers include her grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers include Arkansas Hospice of St. Joseph's Mercy Medical Center; staff of 2nd floor West at St. Joseph's Mercy Medical Center; and Bob Albritton.
Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Charles Hill officiating.
