Emmett Hicks, aged 87, retired farmer, died in the Ouachita County Hospital Sunday night after a lengthy illness. He was a resident of the county for 46 years and was a member of the Bethesda Presbyterian Church. Survivors are five daughters, Mrs. J. E. Buck, Mrs. Ernestine Rowe, and Miss Ruth Hicks, all of Camden, Mrs. Dee Holloway of Smackover, and Mrs. Herbert Jieu of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sons, Roy and Wilson Hicks, both of Camden; one sister, Mrs. Ben Wilson of Magnolia; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Bethesda Church by Rev. R. A. Hall. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery under the direction of Forbis Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be James Renfro, Orlin Renfro, Chester Thompson, John Wright, Junior Pennington, and Obie Burton. (Camden News - July 24, 1961 )
