Quinton Hershel Spears, Sr. 88 of Greenbrier, passed away September 16, 2008 at McCellan Veteran's Hospital in Little Rock, after a long battle with CHF. Born in Chinquapin, Ar. on February 15, 1920 he was a son of the late Ezra and Chloe (Baker) Spears. He was the eldest of seven sons and three daughters, a retired carpenter and cattle rancher.
Quinton was a WWII Army veteran who received the following decorations; Purple Heart, four Bronze Service Stars, WWII Victory Ribbon, Phillippine Liberations Ribbon and two Bronze Stars.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Emma Athelene (Kuykendall) Spears; five brothers; Estes, Eugene, twin brothers Coy and Roy Spears and an un-named brother buried with his mother. A twin daughter, Bonnie Spears Moix; a granddaughter Tammy Renee Spears and a grandson William F. Davis, Jr.
Survivors include two sons; Quinton Hershel Spears, Jr. and Gary Spears both of Greenbrier; two daughters; Mary K. Davis of Greenbrier and a twin daughter Donnie F. Hawkins of Conway; a brother, Bro W. S. Spears of Greenbrier and two sisters, Freda Satterwhite of Conway and Savannah Arnold of Heber Springs; eight grandchildren; ten great-grand children'and two great-great-grandchildren.
Justin Spears, Wesley Spears, Jason Spears, Sam Smith, Hershel Smith and Jacob Smith serving as pallbearers. Danny Moix and Issac Smith will serve as honoary pallbearers.
