MURDOCK, John H. - John H. Murdock died at the family home north-west of Cave Springs on Friday morning, September 4th, 1925 at the age of 67 years. Mr. Murdock had been confined to his home for about two years on account of ill health, his death being caused from pneumonia. The funeral services were held at the family home on Friday afternoon. Rev. Henry of Elm Springs conducted the services. Interment was made in the Phillips cemetery. Mr. Murdock was born in Ripley county, Ind. on May 22nd, 1858. He confessed faith in Christ and joined the Baptist Church and was baptized in 1875. He moved to Benton county, Ark. and joined the church at Cave Springs. He was married to Barbra P. Phillips in 1880. To this union were born nine children, five girls and four boys. Three boys and four girls are still living and all are Christians. Besides his wife he is survived by seven children - Mrs. Nannie Fagala, Mrs. W.E. Rozar, Mrs. Lige Allen, C.O. Murdock and C.R. Murdock, all of Cave Springs, Ark.; Mrs. Homer Scoggins of Highfill, Ark. and J.E. Murdock of Belton, Mo. Also two brothers and three sisters - C.A. Murdock of Avon, South Dakota; S.E. Murdock of Lisle, Mo.; Mrs. Anna Hughes of Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Nellie Phillips of Cave Springs, Ark. and Mrs. Ola Holland of Elm Springs, Ark. Also 29 grandchildren and a host of friends. Mr. Murdock was a man of upright character and was loved and respected by his fellowmen and was a kind and loving husband and father.
