HOT SPRINGS — Estelle Gaston, 96, of Hot Springs died Sunday, May 21, 2006, in a Hot Springs hospital.
Born Jan. 13, 1910, in Franklin, she was the daughter of William Columbus Wall and Estella May Wasson Wall. She was a graduate of Melbourne High School. She married Powell Gaston on April 11, 1935. She taught school at Lunenberg and Franklin. She was a self-employed cosmetologist, worked for the Bank of Franklin, was a restaurant owner and operator, was a waitress at Horseshoe Bend Clubhouse, was operator of the Dairy Bar at Ash Flat and was a bookkeeper for Godwin's Hardware Store and McCollugh Cable Company. She enjoyed sewing and dancing and danced up to four nights a week until eight years ago. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include a sister, Lorene Ferguson of Hot Springs; six nephews, Gordon Love and David Love, both of Spokane, Wash., Johnny Love of Evening Shade, Edward Love of Bryant, Robert Love of Franklin and Jack Ferguson of Hot Springs; three nieces, Evans Hannah of Jonesboro and Diane Cavanaugh and Virginia Wolford, both of Hot Springs; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers; and a sister.
Graveside services were at 2:30 p.m. today at Violet Hill Cemetery in Violet Hill with Bob Barnes officiating. Arrangements were by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne.
Pallbearers were her nephews.
