September 11, 1908 - January 25, 1975
Mrs. Cora Duke Slater, 66, of Route 1, died Saturday at an El Dorado hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. at the Parkers Chapel United Methodist Church with J. B. Swain officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery in Junction City under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Mrs. Slater was born at Strong, Sep. 10, 1908, the daughter of William R. and Callie Coleman Duke. She was a former teacher in the Strong and Parkers Chapel school systems, a life-long resident of Union County, and a member of Parkers Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, William H. Slater of El Dorado; two brothers, Murphy Duke and Wallace Duke, both of Strong; and one sister, Mrs. John Ham of El Dorado. Pallbearers will be James Hopper, Jessie McKinnon, Jodie Cammack, J. D. Ainsworth, J. H. Hawkins, and Kenneth Cross. (El Dorado News-Times - January 26, 1975)
