Reginald Edward Sylvester, 69, of Elkins, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, in Fayetteville. Reggie was born in 1937, to the late Glenn and Jessie Sylvester of Stamford, Texas. As a teenager, he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and has been a faithful Christian since. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed for a time in Korea. He was a faithful member of the Mission Boulevard Baptist Church and served as a deacon of the church for 34 years.
Reggie worked as a central office technician for Alltel for 28 years, before retiring in 1998. He enjoyed life to the fullest and spent his time with family and friends. He loved to fish, golf, play guitar and sing gospel music.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Sylvester; two sons, Brad Sylvester and wife Brenda of The Woodlands, Texas, and Kyle Sylvester and wife Shannon of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, who loved and adored him; and a brother, Gary "Pete" Sylvester and wife Barbara if Collinsville, Okla.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 at Mission Boulevard Baptist Church. The Rev. Brian Disney will officiate.
Arrangements are by Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville.
