In memory of Moses Edwards, a Cherokee, age 43years, was murdered by two white men near Logtown on December 24, 1875. This you see remember me"
Jesse James is said to have erected the monument to Edward's grave because he found refuge from the United States Marshals at the home of Edward's grandmother just over the line in the Indian Territory.
Edwards was buried south of the Edward's home near the barn. Capt James Allison purchased the farm about the close of the Civil War and the cemetery was named for him.
