Perry Edwards, 71, of Van Buren, Arkansas died Saturday, March 5, 2016 . Perry was born in 1944 to George B. and Josephine Edwards in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

He was a Christian raised in the Lutheran Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Barbara Ann Smith and a brother George B. Edwards, Jr, all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and a brother-in-law Ronnie Coble.

Perry was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School and attended Louisiana State University. He worked in the Engineering department at Baldor Electric Company in Fort Smith. He retired in 2002.. Perry was a veteran. He was also an avid volunteer for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxillary and emphasized safety as a way of life for all who loved boating. He was a current member and past Commander of Flotilla 085-15-05 in Fort Smith. Perry worked tirelessly as a past member of the American Cancer Society Boards of Fort Smith and Van Buren. Perry loved helping people - it was just part of his personality. For this trait he is remembered and cherished.

Perry is survived by his wife Donna Edwards of the home; a daughter, Jeannie Mathis and her husband, Brett of Covington, Louisiana and their 2 children; a son Jonathan Edwards Hustmyre and his wife, Tiffany of Spring, Texas and their 2 daughters; a brother, Alva Edwards and a sister, Betty Jean Martrain and her husband, Ricky of Denham Springs, Louisiana; his mother-in-law Ruby Coble of Van Buren and a brother-in-law Charles Coble of Alma, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 10 AM Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren, Arkansas with Military Honors with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be Brad Coble, Kaleb Coble, Brayden Coble and Don Melby of Van Buren; Larry Alber and Jodie Haralson of Fort Smith,

Honorary pallbearers are the officers and members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxillary, Flotilla 085-15-05 of Fort Smith.

Donna Edwards, 73, of Van Buren, went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2020.
Donna was born in 1947 to Charles Wayne and Ruby Coble in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

She was a Christian and a Protestant.

She was preceded in death by her husband Perry, her father, and her brother Ronnie Coble.

Donna was a graduate of Van Buren High School and the University of Ozarks. She attended graduate school at the University of Arkansas. After completing college, she worked as an office manager for area businesses and taught adult education classes. In the mid-1970's she began her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone (now AT&T) in the marketing department as an account manager. During her career, she earned several company awards for Master's Club, President's Club, and the Pinnacle Award for outstanding marketing employee. Donna was active in the Telephone Pioneers of America and was a past-president of the Fort Smith Chapter. Donna accepted early retirement from Southwestern Bell Telephone in year 2000. As secretary of the VBHS Class of 1965, Donna worked diligently on numerous class reunions and hosted many class meeting. The friendship of her high school classmates and reunion committee members were very special to her. During retirement, Donna was a member of three Van Buren bridge clubs. The friendship and camaraderie of the members of these clubs was truly a blessing in her life.

Throughout her life, Donna used her talent and training as a pianist to serve the Lord as church pianist for Van Buren Baptist, Christian, and Methodist Churches. In addition, she accompanied soloists who sang regularly at area nursing home services.

Donna is survived by a daughter, Jeannie Mathis and her husband, Brett of Covington, Louisiana; a son, Jonathan Edwards Hustmyre and his wife, Tiffany of Spring, Texas; her mother, Ruby Coble of Van Buren; a brother Charles E. Coble of Alma; a niece Karen Coble of Fort Smith; a nephew Brad Coble of Fort Smith; four grandchildren Sarah and Blake Mathis, and Cate and Ryn Hustmyre; two great-nephews Kaleb and Brayden Coble.

A memorial service will be held on 1PM, Monday, June 22, 2020 at Ocker Memorial Chapel, 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren, Arkansas. A private internment of the cremains will be held at a later date.
All arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
