Ed Piercy, aged 70, a widely known Northwest Arkansas citizen and retired farmer, and a resident of Benton County of 67 years, died at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning, June 9th, 1936, at this home one mile south of Osage Mills, following a long illness.

Funeral services are being conducted at 2:30 o’clock this (Thursday) afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, at Osage Mills, conducted by pastor, the Rev. Irl Bridenthal, and the Rev. F.A. Bradshaw, pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Vaughn. The Hazel Valley Masonic Lodge at Vaughn, of which Mr. Piercy had been a member for 57 years, will conduct the ceremony at the grave. Burial will be in the Barron cemetery. The Callison Funeral Home of Rogers is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Seven years ago Mr. and Mrs. Piercy celebrated their golden wedding anniversary when 500 relatives and friends were present, Mr. Piercy and his close friends, the late B.S. Beach of Rogers, formerly of Osage Mills, had celebrated their birthday anniversaries together on the same day in February for the last 25 years. Mr. Beach’s death occurred seven days before that of Mr. Piercy.

Mr. Piercy was born at Neosho, Mo., but had lived in Arkansas near where he died, since he was 12 yeas of age. In 1879 he married Miss Martha Berry of near Osage Mills. He was a successful farmer and orchardist and had many business interests during his long and active life.

Beside his wife he is survived by three sons, Hugh A. Piercy of Ojai, Calif., Urie Piercy of Osage Mills and George L. Piercy of Bainsville, Mont., and by five daughters, Mrs. Maude Rice of Springtown, Ark., Mrs. Maggie Everett of Bentonville, and Mrs. Bertha Rife and Miss Emmaline Piercy, both of Osage Mills. There are also a number of grandchildren and other relatives.
