Daughter of the American Revolution
Mary Lee Echols Gould, 91, of Little Rock died Friday, December 30, 2005, at the Northshore University Hospital in Plainview, NY. A native of Parkdale; a resident of New York for the past ten years and a former resident of Parkdale and Little Rock, she graduated in 1936 from Hendrix College in Conway. She was a retired teacher and was a secretary for the FBI in Washington, D.C. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Little Rock where she was an organist and a former active member of the Parkdale United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and organist. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Francis Vivian Brookings Chapter, and was very active in church events, community events and her children's affairs.
She is survived by a son, Jay G. Gould of Glen Head, NY; a daughter, Mary K. Gould of Levittown, NY; and three grandchildren, Sara, Annabel & Katherine Gould. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. G. Gould, in 1976; her parents, T.W. & Etta Porter Echols; and a sister, Ruth Tucker.
Funeral services are to be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, in the chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home in Hamburg with Rev. Gary Harrison officiating. Burial will be in the Parkdale Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hendrix College, 1601 S. Harkrider Street, Conway, AR 72032 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 10411 W. Markham, Suite 130, Little Rock, AR 72205-1409.
