Funeral services for Mrs. Connis Keeter, 87, of Mountain Home will be Tuesday May 31, at 11:00 am in the Roller Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. David Johson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 am until service time. Burial will be in Baxter Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Keeter passed away Saturday evening at Baxter Regional Medical Center.
Connis Keeter was born June 5, 1917, in Flippin, Arkansas to John Lane Conley and Estella (Flippin) Huddleston. Connis married Harmon Keeter on September 16, 1933 and was a lifelong resident of Marion and Baxter Counties. Mrs. Keeter was a schoolteacher for 31 years beginning in 1936, in the Arkana, Salesville, Gassville, Midway, and Mountain Home schools. She was named Mountain Home Schoolteacher of the Year in 1977, the year she retired. Connis and Harmon established the first Hot Lunch program in Baxter county while teaching at Arkana. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mountain Home and a Charter Member of the Alpha Iota chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Mrs. Keeter is survived by 2 sons: George Keeter of Heber Springs and Gary (Virginia) Keeter of Benton, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harmon Keeter, 1 brother, Verner, and 1 sister, Zena.
Harmon was the son of George Pierce and Francis Elizabeth (Milligan) Keeter.
