Mrs. Arthur Thorn,
Victim of Accident

Funeral services for Mrs. Arthur Thorn, age 60, who was killed on Wednesday of last week, June 24, in a highway accident near Cotter, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the local Church of Christ with Bro. Marlin Poyner of Lubbock, Tex. officiating.

Mrs. Thorn was a member of the Church of Christ, and was born September 7, 1898 in Lawrence county, Tenn.

She was the former Miss Mattie Jimmie Taylor. Her parents were the late William Lee Taylor and Mrs. Etta Butler Taylor, both natives of Alabama.

She had resided in this county for 21 years, and lived in the Walker community several miles northwest of here.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur Thorn of the home; five sons, William, Harold and Dale Thorn, all of Mountain Home, Chalmious Thorn of Louisville, Tex. and Carl Thorn of California; three daughters, Miss Evelyn Thorn of Mountain Home, Mrs. Jessie Rice of California and Mrs. Ruby Bell of Harrison; her mother, Mrs. Etta Taylor of Tennessee; 10 grandchildren and six sisters, Mrs. Emma Hughes of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Virgie Strelts and Mrs. Alma Butler, both of Collinwood, Tenn., Mrs. Alla Thompson of Orange City, Tenn. and Mrs. Eva Thompson of Jonesboro.

Pallbearers were Verlin Huett, Cecil Dahlke, Marvin Chapman, Robert Willard, Waldo Treat and Clifford Pittaway.

Interment was in the Walker cemetery. Roller Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

[Note: She and her husband apparently spelled their surname as Thorn, and even though the children's name in the obituary are spelled Thorn, later obituaries and gravestones indicate that the younger children spelled their surname Thorne.]
