Baxter County,
Arkansas

Born: September 19, 1920
Died: March 11, 2005

Marietta Evans Stanley, 84, passed away Friday, March 11, 2005, in Houston, following a lengthy battle with pneumonia.

Marietta was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Oakdale, La., to James and Sophie Evans. In 1949, she married Malan Stanley in New Orleans. They remained there, raising their only son, Robert, until 1984 when they moved to Mountain Home. In 2001, she relocated to Houston to be closer to her immediate family.

She is survived by her loving son, Robert Malan Stanley and his wife, Margaret, of Houston; two grandchildren of whom she was very proud, Clifford Scott Stanley and Nicolle Renee Stanley, both of Arlington, Texas; and three nieces and nephews, Marlene Camardelle, Paulette Thompson and Buster Dufour, their spouses and children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Malan Stanley.

She was a very special woman who touched the lives of all she encountered. She will be missed by all of us who were fortunate enough to have had her in our lives.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Roller Funeral Home.

A funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Roller Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Michael Shy officiating. Entombment will be at Baxter Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer.
