Services were held in his home until a building was established. He was a life-long dedicated member of the church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. The most important aspect of his life was his family.
Mr. Sexton is survived by: his wife of over 68 years, Retha of the home, 1 son: Wendell Sexton (Pat Casper); 1 daughter: Sharon Boyd (Ben) Sanders; 6 grandchildren: Teresa (Harvey) Hughes, Tammy (Darren) Johnson, David Sexton, Traci (Steve) Burges, Shelly (Michael) Tucker - all of Mountain Home; Susan Boyd of Cabot; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 brother: Hayden (Leah Dene) Sexton of Mountain Home; 2 sisters: Imogene (Vernon) Drown of Lenexa, KS, and Emolene (Lavoe) Moser of Calico Rock, Jackie Castro of Prattsville, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Retha M. Sexton, age 91, of Mountain Home, passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009 at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House. Mrs. Sexton was born June 30, 1917 in Calico Rock, AR to Samuel and Moda Hively Wayland. She married Lowell Sexton on Dec. 8, 1938 in Wild Cherry AR. Services were held in their home until a building was established. She was a life- long dedicated member of the church. She taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, worked in the nursery and was active in the Cumberland Presbyterian Women group of the church.
She loved her home and flowers and made several quilts for her grandchildren and enjoyed reading. The most important aspect of her life was her family. Everyone knew Retha as a gentle, kindhearted, loving and nurturing person. She had a magical way of loving everyone the same, without prejudice, yet at the same time making you feel special.
