Joan Hudson, age 80, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010.
She was born September 24, 1929, at Blytheville, Arkansas, to Virgil W. and Thelma A. Rhodes Shepherd. On December 23, 1947, she married Cletus W. Hudson in Hernando, Mississippi, and moved to Mountain Home in 1972 from Blytheville. Mrs. Hudson was a member of First Baptist Church and was a homemaker. A devoted wife and mother, her Christian faith and her family came first in her life. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and reading.
Survivors are her husband: Cletus W. Hudson: of the home; a son: Cletus W. Hudson, Jr. and wife Lana: Ft. Smith, Arkansas; two daughters: Ann Lentz: Mountain Home; and Kimberly Barton and husband, Steve: Pontotoc, Mississippi; two brothers: Charles Shepherd and wife Millie: California City, California; and Virgil Shepherd and wife Janet: Lawrenceville, Georgia; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Dorothy Moore; and a son-in-law: Jim Lentz.
Visitation will be from Noon-9:00 P.M. Friday at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Sept. 4 at the Mausoleum of Honor in Baxter Memorial Gardens with Reverend Max Pyron officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House, 701 Burnett Drive, Mountain Home, Arkansas 72653.
