Jimmie Lazada Shinn, age 90, of Carthage, Mo., passed away at St. Luke's Nursing Home at 4:40 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009.

Born Sept. 30, 1918, in Alma, Ark., she was the daughter of Robert James McCoy and Nellie Titsworth. She graduated from Van Buren High School. She was homemaker most of her life, she worked at various furniture manufacturing companies in the upholstering department, sewing cushions. She spent her spare time sewing, crocheting, quilting, creating all sorts of craft items, reading and gardening. She attended Grace Pointe (formerly First) Assembly of God Church. She married Scott Leon Shinn, Dec. 25, 1941. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1988.

Survivors include two sons, Steward and his wife, Martha, of Carthage, Robert and his wife, Pame, of Austin, Texas; two grandsons, Blake of Wentzville, Mo., and Courtney, of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; four great- grandchildren, Cooper and Gabe, of Wentzville, Mo., Braden and Abby of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Ora Lou Holland and her husband, Elmer Jr., of Alma, Ark., and a niece, Jane of Houston, Texas.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, in Gill Cemetery, Alma, Ark., where she will be buried next to her parents.
