Walnut Ridge, AR–ALVIE WILSON BELLAH, 88, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Walnut Ridge, died Nov. 1, 2001, at Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis. He was born Nov. 21, 1912 in Lawrence County, Ark., the son of the late Alexander and Bertha Tribble Bellah.
He was married to Lillie May McCall on Dec. 5, 1930 in Walnut Ridge. She preceded him in death on March 2, 1996.
He worked as a farmer for 50 years in Walnut Ridge and as an employee at Brukhart in St. Louis for 12 years. He was a member of Freewill Baptist Church in Hopewell, Ark.
Survivors include: four daughters, Hettie Nicholson of Tuckerman, Betty Franks and Linda Howard both of St. Louis, and Sharon Holt of Arizona; three sons, Alvin Bellah and Wilbern Bellah both of St. Louis, and Bobby Bellah of Lake City; two brothers, Tz Bellah of California and Al Bellah of Washington; 29 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, three sons, two sisters and three brothers.
Services were held Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Higginbotham Chapel, Walnut Ridge, with Rev. Harland McCall officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge with arrangements under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service, Inc. of Walnut Ridge.
Pallbearers were Bill Bellah, Phillip Bellah, Robert Bellah, Ricky Franks, and Greg Nicholson. Honorary pallbearers were Ernie Bellah, Jerry Bellah, Mark Bellah, Steve Bellah, and Tommy Bellah.
