January 9, 1930 - November 10, 2022
Billy Don Yates, born January 9, 1930, in Mammoth Springs; passed away November 10, 2022, peacefully in his sleep at Eagle Crest Nursing Home at the age of 92. Son of the late, John and Rachel Benton Yates.
Billy served in the United States Airforce and retired after twenty years as the rank of Master Sergeant at the age of 56 in 1971. Then he worked and retired as an over seer of Maintenance Department at the Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. He was united in marriage to Gloria Fay Williams on July 15, 1974, they had eighteen lovely years together until her passing in 2003. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, and he loved traveling seeing new sights.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gloria; a sister, Johneddi Pritt; and three brothers, Joe Raymond, J.D. and Bobby Yates.
Survivors include a sister, Margaret Salter; a niece, Patty Miller; grandson, Gage Brewer; caregiver and best friends, Margaret Fouts, Clyde Collins, Jim and Carolyn Schumann; and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial service will be announced at a later date in the Lawrence Memorial Cemetery in Walnut Ridge.

RAVENDEN -- Gloria Faye Yates, 75, of Ravenden died Tuesday, March 18, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.
Born in Hoxie, she was a retired registered nurse and a member of Coffman Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Billy D. Yates; two daughters, Sue Amos of St. Louis and Willeta Anderson of Blytheville; a son, Stephen Williams of Portia; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mellie Carley Stephens; a son, Ronald Williams; and a brother.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday in Lawrence Memorial Park. Bryan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
