Obituary:
Mary George Darnell, age 99, of Hermitage, AR., died Monday December 21, at home. Born March 29, 1910 in Clay County, TX., a daughter of the late George Wilburn Wright and Laura Sidney Broad Wright she was a retired public school teacher with 40 plus years service at Central Jr. High School in Hot Springs, Ar. and schools in Texas, Oklahoma and Mississippi. After retirement she worked for World Book Encyclopedia as an area manager, she was a member Hermitage United Methodist Church, graduate Edmond State Teacher's College in Oklahoma and the widow of Homer George Darnell who died August 7, 1979. Also, preceding her in death was a brother Sidney Wright, sisters Mildred Ricketts and Nell Bryan. Survivors are 1 daughter Glenda Darnell Harrod and spouse John Hillary, Hermitage, AR., 5 grandchildren Brad Harrod and spouse Melissa, Brent Harrod and spouse Kristie, Matt Harrod and spouse Brandy all of Hermitage, AR., Dawn O'Neal and spouse Johnny, Jr.,Camden, AR., Devin McDiarmid and spouse Jason, Banks, AR. 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Wednesday December 23, Union Hill Baptist Church at Ingalls, AR. with Rev. Wayman Mann and Rev. Marty Reep officiating. Nina Harrod was pianist and soloist was Carrie Cauley. Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were David Gorman, Marty Reep, John Kidwell, Jr., Andrew Best, John Paul Johnson and Jerrel Stanfield. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Gorman, Edith Peebles, Baker Peebles, Baily Mac Hargis, Francis Hartis, Joe Don Greenwood, Tim Vines, Dr. Kerry Pennington and Karen Richardson.
