Alf Cook led a group of men who had allegiance to neithr side in the civil war. They scavenged and took from whoever they needed to as they traveled around. The group had settled for a time in a cave up the valley from Sugarloaf Creek. It became known as Cook Cave. When the US Cavalry caught up with them many surrendered but Cook, Russell and Brown were killed. Three children - Katarine Finney, a Holiday girl, and a 13 year old boy named T. Hopper took a cart to get the bodies and took them 2 1/2 miles down the hollow to this small cemetery. All three were buried in one grave with the help of a man named Bruce. This story was written out by the grandson of Annice Smith, a woman who is also buried here.
