Jewell Stevens Dies Saturday Following Brief Illness

Jewell Stevens aged 47 of this place died in a Batesville hospital, Saturday following a brief illness. He became ill Thursday and was taken to the hospital immediately.

Mr. Stevens was born in Stone County and his early life was spent in the vicinity of Fifty-Six. He had been a resident of Calico Rock for over 20 years. He was married to Miss Ruby Berry of this place, who survives. Mr. Stevens was a farmer and stockman.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, John, Perry and Don; four daughters, Martha, Mary Sue, Cindy and Linda and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were conducted at the Church of Christ Sunday afternoon with Elder Thurman Healy officiating. Burial was in Rose Lawn Cemetery with the Hall Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

Pall bearers were: Dr. Noel Copp, Shelby King, J. E. Lucy, Guy Jenkins, T. J. Kerr and Victor Rea.
