LINEBARGER, Elizabeth M. SMYER – Mrs. E.M. Linebarger, who had been ill for several months past, died Monday morning shortly before six o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe Smiley, near Elm Springs, where she had been making her home for some time past. The remains were brought to Springdale and funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church Monday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Meyer of Purdy, Mo. The remains were interred in the Lutheran Cemetery west of town. Elizabeth M. Smyer was born near Newton in Catawba County, California, November 16, 1827. On December 10, 1846 she was united in marriage to M.H. Linebarger who died at his home in Springdale November 25, 1891. In February 1871 the family moved to Madison County where they resided until 1884 when they moved to Springdale. Mr. and Mrs. Linebarger were the parents of eleven children, four sons and seven daughters, five of whom are dead. The surviving children are: E.A. Linebarger of Chicago, who was formerly in business in Springdale; M.A. Linebarger of Whitener; D.M. Linebarger of Springdale; Mrs. Reuben Cline of Statesville, North Carolina, Mrs. W.R. Bird of Springdale and Mrs. Joe Smiley living near Elm Springs. Besides these children deceased is survived by forty-two grand-children and twenty-five great grand-children. Grandma Linebarger, as she was familiarly known, had for many years been a devoted member of the Lutheran Church and was esteemed and respected by all.
