Lora Weir Cude

Lora Weir Cude, 100, of Black Rock died Aug. 6, 2010 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born Nov. 5, 1909 at Eaton, she was the daughter of Robert Sloan and Mary Rainwater Weir.

She graduated from Sloan Hendrix Academy and attended Arkansas State College.

She earned a teaching certificate and taught grades 1-8 in one room schools in the Post Oak and Lauratown communities.

On June 28, 1936 she married Dee Cude.

They owned and operated a grocery store in Black Rock for 39 years.

She was a member of the Black Rock United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by husband, Dee Cude; son, Jim Cude; two brothers; and six sisters.

She is survived by son, Jerry Cude (Libby) of Conway; daughters, Rita Guntharp (G. David) of Jonesboro and Mary Videll (Joe) of Walnut Ridge; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Cude, Mike Cude, Greg Guntharp, Steve Guntharp, Mark Blankenship and Kevin Berry.

Visitation was 1-2 p.m. Sunday at House-Gregg Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Services were 2 p.m. in the chapel.

Burial followed in Hope Cemetery at Imboden.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Black Rock United Methodist Church or the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, 1148 E. Matthews, Jonesboro, Ark., 72401.

BLACK ROCK — Lora Weir Cude, age 100, of Black Rock died Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
