BISHOP, Mrs. W.W. {CHRISTIAN} - Grandma Bishop died Friday evening at six o'clock at her home in Springdale of old age and general infirmities. Funeral services were held at the residence Saturday afternoon at three o'clock, conducted by Rev. W.H. Morrow, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, the remains being interred in Bluff Cemetery. Mrs. Bishop was probably the oldest person in Springdale, being almost 92 years of age. She was born near McMinnville, Tenn. March 30, 1817, her maiden name being Christian. December 26, 1839 she was united in marriage to W.W. Bishop and soon thereafter they moved to Texas and in 1886 they came to Arkansas. For 78 years she had been a member of the Presbyterian Church, having united with the Cumberland Church when she was 14 years of age. She and her husband were ardent supporters of the Cumberland church and some years ago the foundation for a church building was erected on their lot near their residence but the building was never completed. Of late years deceased has affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. Deceased is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Moore, and a grandson, Jas. Bishop, the three constituting the family. Mr. Bishop died May 23, 1905.
