L. T. ALLEN DEAD
The many friends and relatives of Mr. L. T. Allen were shocked to learn last Tuesday morning that he had suddenly grown worse after a brief illness of less than a week and there was no hope of his recovery. The end came about eleven that morning before it was generally known that he was seriously ill.
Mr. Allen, who was fifty-eight years of age was well known in Monticello having lived
in this vicinity all his life. He was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Allen of the Rose Hill
neighborhood. Before moving to Monticello Mr. Allen, was engaging in farming. For some time past he has been a trusted employee of the Drew Oil Mill.
He was a devoted father a kind and affectionate husband. He is survived by his wife and six children, two daughters, Misses Linnie and Mary, and four sons, Bishop, James W., Thomas Lee and Wilse Jay.
Interment took place Wednesday afternoon at three o'clock at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. G. K. Rogers assisted by Rev. W. T. West.
The heartbroken wife and the grief stricken children have the sympathy of the entire town in their great loss.
