Lavenia Anita Sammons Venicombe, 84, of Jonesboro died Sunday, Nov. 24, at Rose Skill Care Nursing Center.
Born in Jonesboro, she was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Disabled American Veterans Women's Auxiliary No. 26 and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She worked as a waitress for 30 years at Court Square Cafe and Poorboy Sandwich Shop in Jonesboro.
Survivors include three brothers, Robert Sammons of Jonesboro, Gordon A. Sammons of Clinton Township, Mich., and Clarence C. Sammons of Moore, Okla.; and four sisters, Virginia Windle and Dorothy Calkin, both of Jonesboro, Gracie Alsup of Fort Worth, Texas, and Rosella Fuller of Granite City, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Venicombe.
Graveside services are today at 10 a.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Jim Tollison officiating. Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Bob Bassett, Robert Windle, Gary Calkin, William Calkin Jr., and Kenneth Hellman.
