Melvin Martin, age 79 of Strawberry died Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Cave City Nursing Home in Cave City. He was born November 3, 1930 at Bethesda, Arkansas to Jim and Delsie Harmon Martin. He was a retired machinist and a member of Strawberry Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Martin.

Survivors include his mother, Delsie Martin of Batesville, his wife Vannah Martin of the home, one son Kinnie Martin and wife Cindy of Batesville, one daughter Teresa Lawson and husband Mike of Morgan Hills, California, one brother, Troy Martin of Batesville, three sisters, Mildred Winkle and Leota Allen of Batesville and Nancy Branham of Warner Robins, Georgia, five grandchildren, Jason Martin and Justin Martin of Batesville, Lee Lawson, Matthew Lawson and Ian Lawson all of California, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will begin Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Strawberry Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Ward Cemetery located at Strawberry with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.

Visitation will begin Friday, December 18, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
