J. B. was the son of John Wilson and Sarah "Sallie" (Murphy) Simpson.
Lugilla was the daughter of Maj. Thomas Irby and Rebecca Jane (Casey) Hicks. J.B. and Lugilla were married on June 27, 1882 in Baxter County, Arkansas.
