Govue Lee (Manning) Butler, 98, died April 19, 2010, at a local hospital. She was born March 23, 1912, to the late Rev. Simmie and Alice (Mack) Manning in Springhill, La. Her parents preceded her in death; as well as her husband, Althie Bultler; a brother, Clinton (Buddy) Manning; a sister, Nodie Manning; two daughters, Omega Butler Bailey and Gwendolyn Butler; and two sons, Althie (Al) L. Butler and Sammie Butler.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Hot Springs. She retired from The Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center in 1974 and Hot Springs Head start in 2008, where she worked as a foster grandparent. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Phyllis Wheatley Chapter. Govue was well traveled both nationally, and internationally. Her hobbies included fishing, quilting, gardening, and most of all spending time with her family.
