BELLA VISTA — Helen Louise Bender died July 8, 2006, at Highlands Healthcare in Bella Vista. She was born Jan. 29, 1925, in Owings Mills, Md., to Elmer and Lillian Shoemaker. She attended high school in Westminster, Md., and was a nurse's aide and a blood donor during World War II. She married Charles Bender on March 23, 1946. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, E. Charles Bender of Bella Vista; one son, Rodney Bender and wife Shirlene of Beaver Dam, Wis.; one daughter, Paige Bender-Webb and husband Elvis of Grants Pass, Ore.; two sisters, Dorothy Seabold of Westminster and Ruth Aldridge of Westminster; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Highlands Methodist Church. A gathering of friends will follow in the social hall.
Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
