Born December 28, 1921, Baxter County, Arkansas.
Died January 5, 1940, Baxter County, Arkansas.
Son of Missouri O. & Valley May Baker Curtis.
Dec. 28, 1921, USA
Death: Jan. 5, 1940, USA
Obituary dated January 19, 1940:
Rachel Curtis, 17 son of Mr. & Mrs. Missouri Curtis died, probably January 5 in an accident near Culp. Burial was at Table Rock Cemetery.
The old stone shows the name as Rachel and in the obituary of his brother Weston Curtis it shows a brother Rachel who preceded him. The new stone that was placed in recent years, gives the name as Richard; however, from all available information, it appears he went by the name of Rachel.
The dates look slightly questionable. The newspaper article indicated that he was 17 and in the 1930 census, he was shown as being 7 years old; therefore, the year of birth was probably 1922. The Arkansas death index gives a death date of January 12 instead of January 5, and the January 12 date would fit with the newspaper article.
