Yancey Broadaway came to Craighead County in 1837. He and his brother William established the Broadaway settlement in 1841. He was born in North Carolina. He was a farmer, county and probate judge, charter member Missionary Baptist Church. He and his wife Elizabeth Hodges who was born in Tennessee were parents of 11 children whose descendants number many hundreds
