Jane Marie Gates Rice, 86, of White Hall passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012. She was born May 18, 1926 in Grant County to the late Oscar and Ida Young Gates. She attended schools in Sheridan and also attended business school in Pine Bluff. She was a member of First Baptist Church-White Hall and was a retired credit manager for Firestone. She loved camping and most of all she enjoyed time with her family. Mrs. Rice is preceded in death by her husband, J.F. Rice; brothers, Curtis and Hubert Gates; and sister, Frances Pennington Daugherty.
She is survived by her son, Steve (Janet) Rice; daughter, Sandy (Bill) Cathey, all of White Hall; grandsons Keith Cathey of Lawton, Okla., and Kyle Rice of White Hall; and two great-grandsons Jeffrey and Jarrod Cathey.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Cranford Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Harper and Rev. Jim Monroe officiating. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church-White Hall Building Fund.
Burial will be in White Hall Methodist Cemetery by Cranford Funeral Home of White Hall (www.cranfordfh.com).
