STEWARD, Lydia Ellen COONFIELD - Lydia Ellen Coonfield was born in Marion county, Ind. Oct. 27, 1833; died near Centerton Feb. 9, 1913, 4:30 a.m. at the home of her widowed daughter, Mrs. A.J. True. She was married to Wm. H. Steward in Morgan Co., Ind. Nov. 23, 1852, moved to Benton Co., Ark. in 1854 where her body now rests in Barron cemetery. Mrs. Steward accepted Christ as her example in 1859 and lived a consistent Christian until called to come and enjoy the home prepared for the faithful in Christ. To the union were born 3 daughters and 7 sons, one son, G.N. Steward and one daughter, M.A. Mason, having preceded Mrs. Steward to the glory land. Those left to mourn the loss are the husband, aged 83 years, Mrs. A.J. True and I.E. Steward of Centerton; J.A. and T.J. Steward of Gravette; W.A. Steward of Siloam Springs, Ark.; Mrs. M.A. True of Clarkston and J.W. Steward of Framington, Wash.; and R.A. Steward of Tulsa, Okla. besides a host of relatives and friends. While the husband has lost a loving, devoted wife, the children a kind and tender mother, the church a consistent and worthy member and the community an obliging and hospitable neighbor, heaven has gained a white-robed angel to join in the songs of sweet deliverance. Written by her son, J.A. Steward.
