Joe H. Copeland Sr., 82, West Fork, died Jan. 9 in a Fayetteville hospital. Born April 28, 1895, in Arthur, Okla., he was the son of Foster and Eva Mershon Copeland, a Jehovah's Witness, a retired farmer and a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Copeland of the home; four sons, Joe Copeland, Foster Copeland and Bruce Copeland of West Fork and Jack Copeland of Lufkin, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. George Ashbaugh of Shafter, Calif., Mrs. Norman Findlay of West Fork, Mrs. Billy Derry of Siloam Springs and Mrs. Jearold Biggs of Lufkin, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Jim Pershall of Lincoln; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Nelson Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Ivan Denton officiating. Burial will be in Zinnamon Cemetery under the direction of Nelson.
Pallbearers will be Wilray Bartholomew, Tince Bartholomew, Tommy Abshier, Weldon Pershall, Curtis Rhodes and Guy Farrell.
