The Baxter Bulletin, July 17, 1914:
Dies of Pellagra
Mrs Smith, wife of a farmer near Herron in Baxter County, died of pellagra this week. This is the first case of pellagra to come before local physicians in this section of the country. She contracted the disease two months ago and the physician says that the hot weather aggravated the case and hastened its development. Three other cases in the same neighborhood that are in their incipiency are under control and will recover. Dr. H. H. Smith of Calico Rock was the attending physician.
