Odis the husband of Pearl until her death, then he married Elva (Arnold) Godwin*. Odis the son of Harvey Whitney Godwin, Jr. and Minnie Lee (Cason) Godwin. Pearl the daughter of Samuel Lige and Sidney "Siddie" (Richardson) Harris.


Odis Godwin, aged 79, of Hoxie died Oct. 31, in Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Born at Saffell on Nov. 18, 1905 he was the son of Whit and Minnie Cason Godwin. He owned and operated a farm near Saffell until the early 1940s, at which time he purchased a farm near Hoxie and moved there. He retired in 1971. He was of the Free Will Baptist belief.

Survivors in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Velda Pierce of Batesville; a stepdaughter, Phyllis Smith fo Pocahontas; a brother, Clyde Godwin of Walnut Ridge; and 4 grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday morning at 10:00 in the HIgginbotham Chapel with Rev. Gene Cullum officiating. Burial was in the Ward Cemetery at Strawberry under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.
